Guidewire Technical Professionals

  • Leads prototype sessions and provides input into requirements decisions based on assessment of technical options  

  • Leads technical design and development, aligning technical solutions with business design and the Guidewire integration patterns

  • Ensures design & development process is followed and coordinates with other Technical Leads to ensure consistency of design and development deliverables and interconnectivity of solutions across work streams 

  • Reviews and approves technical designs & development  to ensure completion and quality

  • Coordinates with Functional Lead and QA Lead to ensure design and development meet business requirements

  • Manages interactions with Architecture, Infrastructure and Enterprise Services teams

  • Works with other Project Leads to interact with 3rd party vendors as needed

  • Manages project-level technical issues and risks, providing direction/guidance as needed  

  • Works with offshore coordinator to manage tasks for offshore developers

  • Provides estimates & other input into Plan Refresh, status reports and change requests

  • Manages junior-level developer resources' tasks, including assignments and review

  • Collaborate with the Program Architecture Team to make technical decisions 

  • Proactively identify and resolve technical barriers to avoid  scope, schedule and  quality impacts

  • Propose configuration solutions and estimate configuration effort required for user story requirements

  • Design the overall integration architecture in conjunction with experts on the target systems

  • Design and code integration components including plug-ins, messaging (and supporting business rules), and programs that call the Guidewire application APIs

  • Configure screen layouts and create new screens in Guidewire Studio as needed

  • Configure business rules and other business logic in Gosu (Guidewire's scripting language)

  • Configure operational parameters such as roles and permissions, user attributes, regions, etc.

  • Create new data model elements and extend the existing application data model with new properties

  • Perform unit testing and resolve defects

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelors in IT/Computer Science or related field; Master's preferred

  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience

  • Insurance experience preferred

  • Experience and knowledge integrating Guidewire modules based on business requirements and needs

  • Extensive experience in code management and version control

  • Critical thinking and decision making skills

  • Result oriented and self starter

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 

  • Able to manage junior-level resources and off-shore team members

  • Prior programming experience in either Java, C#, C, or C++

  • Experience with other modern technologies such as SQL, XML, and scripting languages

  • Experience with modern integrated development environments (IDE) such as Eclipse or RAD

  • Configuring a Guidewire application involves coding in XML and Gosu, Guidewire's scripting language (similar to JavaScript)

  • Ability to debug software issues and resolve defects
